Description
Fryderyk Chopin (1810–1849) composed around twenty waltzes for piano, eight of which were published during his lifetime, including the two from the present edition. At the time, the Waltz was highly popular in Europe, both as a dance and as virtuosic music for the salons of the aristocracy, the latter being the case with Chopin’s waltzes. The Grande Valse Brillante, Op. 18 was composed in 1831 and the Waltz Op. 64 N. 2 in 1847.
The present transcription for two guitars is based on the edition of Chopin’s complete works by the Institute F. Chopin (Warsaw-Krakow, 1949-1961), edited by Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Ludwik Bronarski and Jozef Turczynski. Items in parentheses are editorial suggestions.
