Description
The idea for this arrangement came to me during the opera „The Barber of Seville“. While I was waiting for the two pieces with guitar accompaniment, the other orchestra members always played Rossini‘s magnifi cent overtures again and again. Positioned right behind the first and second violins, I could easily follow the parts they were playing. And I started to play along.
At the time of these performances I was working on the “Grande Ouverture” by Mauro Giuliani and I realized that this overture by Rossini, in a version for guitar quartet, would be exactly the piece that Giuliani unfortunately never wrote for us.
