Sonett VIII is following the scheme of the English Sonett as it developes a subject in three steps with a concluding resume as fourth.
The piece is considered for solo. Due to its high requrements however it can be split into two players for example for students, if the flow is not affected. The instruments are: Gran Cassa (orchestral bass drum), 5 toms, 2 bongos, 2 wood blocks, snare, vibraphone, gong in c#, 3 cymbals, tam-tam (medium at least).
