“Frostblüte is a small offshoot of my work Frostblues zur Winterreise, which I composed as
Anamorph IX 2016, commissioned by the ORF for the Music Protocol in the Styrian Autumn for the ALEPH guitar quartet and the soprano Daisy Press. The piece descends from the heights downwards, with an eighth-tone field opening up in the middle, sound crystals, delicate fractals as frost blossoms. The piece is dedicated to the ALEPH guitar quartet and is also a memorial to the cold and dark winter of war in 2022/23 in Ukraine. Metastylistics, that is, working with (not in) various styles or stylistic elements, mostly in the form of style anamorphoses, has been an essential aspect of my compositions for more than 10 years and can also be found in Frostblüte.”
