Description

Lulu‘s Dream was created as an echo of my new version of the third act of Alban Berg‘s opera Lulu, which premiered at the Bremen Theater in 2019. It is, as it were, a transposition of Berg‘s sound world into a contemporary one, into my own sound world. Just as Berg echoes the lute song by lyricist Frank Wedekind in his adaptation, I also overwrite central elements of the Lulu opera, for example in the framing circus music or as a multiple
palimpsest in this very lute song. However, there is no railing between the set pieces; my music meanders through a fictional dream of Lulu‘s, which — unlike what the opera suggests — is not a nightmare, but rather a dream come true.
