Description

“Dieng” refers to that famous plateau in Central Java (about 2000m high) with some of the oldest Hindu temples of
Indonesia. Although the region is now quite touristic, it is worth going there, for example early in the morning, to
experience that unique, quiet and even magical atmosphere. My composition is not a programmatic description of
that atmosphere. However, for a long time, I have had the intention of composing music with the “breath” of that
realm. It is certainly not at all necessary to have been there. It was just a stimulant for an artistic idea that has finally
(after some decades in fact!) become realized for this fine ensemble.
