Internal thoughts includes the performance of five multiphonics, four of which are commonly used, while one can be classified as unpublished. Specifically, the multiphonics of bars 43, 45, 46, 48 concern historical publications of contemporary instrumental practice for bassoon, such as those born from the collaboration between Bruno
Bartolozzi (1911-1980) New Sounds for Woodwinds (Oxford University Press, London 1967 – Suvini Zerboni, Milan 1974) and Sergio Penazzi (1934-1979) Method for Bassoon (Suvini Zerboni, Milan 1971).
At bar 44, we find the specific multiphonic of Internal thoughts elaborated especially for this new stimulating composition.
Moreover, the multiphonic of bar 48 offers also the possibility to produce a pressure glissato up to the note G4.
