Description
I. The Sleep, a marble dream / Le Someil, une reve de marbre / Der Schlaf, ein Marmortraum (2025)
The sculptor himself says: „The material must continue its natural life, even if modified by the hand of the sculptor. The plastic role, which nature creates, must be discovered and preserved…“ (Brâncu?i, The Arts, 1923).
My piano study aims at a representation of sleep and tranquil dreams: it uses melodic
arches, harmonies in palindromes, and varied chord successions.
II. Four Views on Prometheus / Quatre Regards sur Prométhée / Vier Blicke auf Prometheus (2025)
For the Prometheus sculpture, Brâncu?i chose the egg-shaped representation to capture the light on the polished surface, thus alluding to fire and its significance in the conflict of Greek mythology.
The piano study is constructed from four short sequences, each presenting four
different perspectives on the mythological saga, as a psychological sonic introspection:
1. Moderato: space…something happens…one recognizes a dirge-like gesture…it gains intensity before disappearing.
2. Più mosso: movement arises in space…
3. Meno mosso: reflective sounds…violent chords…relative reconciliation…
4. Più mosso: …movements emerge again…increasing brightness…many spectral
colors.
